The interactive mural, Time in a Tide Pool, will comprise a 60-foot mural image depicting a 3D object surrounded by flows of waves.
The ecology of a tide pool evokes the way of life in an immigrant/refugee community. The experience can also be shared among communities after the onset of climate crisis. Installed at Houston’s Taiwanese Community Center, a site within the Houston immigrant and refugee community, this work aims to explore the humanity evolved from immigrants’ and refugees’ experiences and share it in a new world with people challenged by the climate crisis.
Through this collaborative work, communities are able to share as well as find strength in these common experiences. Created by Yu-Ru Huang, this project will be a collaborated works of arts by arts communities in Taiwan and Texas.
This project is sponsored in part by a grant from city of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance in 2019.
